Thermostat Install DIY
Well just got home from a day of driving. Things I have noticed. Pretty much no difference. Heater still blows just as hot. The engine seams to run better, but I also changed spark plugs from 5224, hard to tell if there is more power because the roads are still really slick.
I used a dremel to make the notch, but a small hand file would work. The notch does not really need to be perfect, just enough to clear the o-ring notch.
I have not heard anything about the 160, but 180 would be as cold as I would go on a my truck. 160 seams way to low, if the engine had a carburetor you might get away with it.

I went from Autolite 5224 - Heat range D11
to Autolite 3923 or 3922 I don't recall - Heat range - D11
I hope they are 3922 the same that the HO engine runs. Something tells me I put the 3923 from the 3.7. Crap I know I should have double checked that. All I know it that I do not like them. I will know on Monday when I get to work. If they are the 3923 I will change them out to the 3922 and see if they are any better. If not I will go back to the 5224
5224, 3923 and 3922 are all the same heat range according to the web site.

i usually run 195 in the winter 180 in the summer.
with the 195 when temps dip down into the -30's - 40's (god bless edmonton) i usually read about 182-190.
with the 180 in the summer i usually read about 179 -189 (up to 200 with ac on)

The water pump is nothing special that I can tell, the propeller looks almost the same as stock. The reason for my change was the bearing was going.
Cooler engine to an extend is a happier engine. Every 10 degrees you drop the engine temp is good for 1HP, So nothing major
