The boot/seal is missing for one, I wonder if all the fluid has leaked out

 

That seal shouldn't be retaining anything other than the grease for that joint. Looks like just that joint failed to me.

Edit: I know the part listed is for a 2006 dakota but the part interchanges with your 2005. If you look at the dorman part number it is the same.

Yup, I get to sleep in until at least 8am everyday except for Saturday. I only have school on Mondays and Wednesdays and I don't start until 11:00am, so I sleep until 9am and the rest of the days I work at 9am. This is the life
