Fog lights keep blowing fuse. Winshield wipers come on by themselves.
Just wondering if anyone has experienced similar problems and if anyone has any advice on finding and fixing the problem(s). I noticed there is a recall on the DOT site for certain Dakotas windshield wipers coming on by themselves, but they say my VIN is not included in the recall. A rep from Dodge is supposed to call me back on Monday to see what to do about the wipers, if I can take it in and get it diagnosed/fixed at no cost. Otherwise the lady from the DOT said to call her back and file a claim to include my vehicle in the recall.
As for the fog lights continuing to blow fuses I am lost. I cleaned the battery connections, checked every single fuse, took apart the dash to check the actual switch and clean it. Not much of an electrical person so don't know where the grounds would be, I heard there are a lot of ground that could be problems. Like I said not much of an electrical person though. Should I just take it in or does anyone have some tips/advice? Thank you.

Check for damaged wires that may have broken insulation and be grounding out against metal or another wire with broken insul. I would start looking from the foglights back. If you live where there has been snow(lol), snow and ice blocks can sometimes build up on wires and stretch insulation to breaking point or pull insulation out of plugs and connectors. Those ice blocks can get quite heavy, 5+ lbs.
First off, Welcome to the forum and the 3rd Gen section. As far as your wipers coming on by themselves, check your switch. (turn signal switch). I have heard that these can malfunction and send signals to the wiper motor when it's off or not turned. Now, post up some pics of your truck!!! lol We like pictures here..
My truck also does the random wipers, along with the spray. now that its cold out i have noticed that when applied my blinkers will switch to the opposite side. ive even seen my side markers flash when the truck has been shut off for hours.
i know its the multifunction switch (blinker/wiper) but just cant bring my self to buy a new one (about 70.00 from the dealer) because to install you have to pull the steering wheel.
