Silly question but is the truck running? I mean is it off and your just trying to put it in neutral to push it? Or you have started it and are trying to put it in gear to drive somewhere and are pushing the brake before shifting?? Did you by chance park on a hill and the trans is in bind?

there is a recall on the tranny. inside is a little metal rod that if it has moved out of place will cause the lever to get stuck. this needs to be addressed by the dealership. look it up on the recall forums. it says if the part moves it will cause the lever to jump out of gear or get stuck in gear. most people that have had this problem, say that the part sliped and there truck went into gear and rolled away. yours is the opposite.
