Driving at < 1 mph feels really bumpy.
HAHA. Alright, this is a hard issue to explain
2006
Dodge Dakota
V8 HO
TRX4
AWD
20,000 miles
Problem:
-When stopped at a traffic light, and you start easing forward (< 1 mph), the truck feels like it's driving over small bumps. Like it's bouncing. Almost like a vibration. It's like BUMP BUMP BUMP BUMP, and continues until I go over 1 mph. My head on the headrest will bounce slightly
-It does it with my foot on, or off the brake. But if it's off the brake, the truck will eventually get over 1mph and it will stop bumping.
-If I touch the gas very slightly, it will go away.
-It doesn't do it in neutral.
-It also does it in reverse
-The RPM doesn't bounce up and down, it stays exactly still.
Ideas?

Like I said, doesn't do it in neutral while coasting. And touch the gas and goes away
BFG all terrain
Feels like something is out of balance. What in the drive train is not spinning or not in use while in neutral?
One dealership said it's normal, andnthe other said they have no idea and it's not normal.

I think I know the "bump" feeling you are talking about and I don't think it's tires. I get the same thing when I let it roll just a bit while still on the brake slightly; like you said, <1 MPH. I've seen it talked about on this forum before but I don't think anyone has been able to pinpoint what it is. If you are in fact talking about what I think you are, it almost feels like a hesitaion but it isn't. I have BFG AT's and I don't consider that a rough enough tread to cause the sensation. Kind of feels like the brakes are grabbing and releasing in rappid succession.

The engine idle quality or RPM doesn't seem to change at all when you start to roll so I think the engine can be ruled out. Maybe something going on in the trans because it is rolling at such a slow speed; trying to modulate pressure maybe? I'm grasping of course, and I don't consider this as something being wrong with the truck. I see it more as a strange phenomenon that would be kind of neat to understand. But at this point I have no idea. Anyone else maybe?
