Leveling kit question
I know I payed a bit for it, but I got the readylift leveling kit (they only make one kind for our daks). It was labeled as a 2" leveling kit, but after I installed it I measured the height of the wheel wells in the front and back from the ground and the rear was only like 1/4 in higher than the front. Granted I have a brush guard on the front that may be making it sit a tiny bit lower.
Question for you guys that have 2X4's and added blocks to the rear. I want to get no more than a 1-1.5 in. lift in the back. Cant find rear blocks online that say they are compatible with our trucks. What did you use? Also, I have heard some have had issues with axle wrap and should just go with an Add-A-Leaf. What say you?

You should have no problems then with a 2.5" then. With a 4x4, it could cause some problems eventually.
Sorry about my comment before, a 2.5" would make a 4x4 perfectly level. Your 2x4 might need a little more, but it should be close. Im not sure how much lower the fronts sit on the 2x4 models.

Its just putting more stress on the CV shafts. Leveling kits are no good for any suspension, IMO. I put the 1.5" spacer in mine. I like having a little less rake, but I didnt want to do 2 or 2.5 to prevent unneccessary wear. If your truck is a road queen, you shouldnt experience anything too bad. If you offroad alot, where the suspension is flexed and pushed to the max, a 2.5" spacer might cause excessive wear issues since everything is riding at a higher angle.
It sucks reading all this crap after you have been through two seperate leveling kits. Its like, at first (years ago) we all determine that 2" in the front is too much, so I get the 1.5" kit from TM. Then, we determine that 2" is the max you can go...so I get 2" daystar kit. Then some guy (thanks a pant-load 08Dakota) puts on a 2.5" kit on his 4x4 and doesn't have any problems. It makes me want to puke out this awesome Kona coffee I just brewed this morning.
To add to the question, for us guys with 8.25" rear end...where is a good place to shop for a 1.5" or 2" rear block kit? I'm a little worried about the vatozone kits.

I got the Daystar 2 inch leveling kit on mine for about 2 years and never had a problem. I don't go off road, mine is a pavement queen so i guess because of that there are no problems.
Donkey, you can use the "vatozone"
kits. There are no problems with them because they are universal and they come with everything. Just make sure that you get the right one for your axel meassurement!
"VATOZONE" That's a good one Donkey!!!
