Default Knock Sensor

So the check engine light came on...it said knock sensor bank 1 malfunction. im plannin on tryin to replace it...never have before though. im not sure what is involved but how do u know which bank is which? any and all info helpful

Bank 1 is always on the same side as cylinder 1. Bank 1 is our Driver side, and Bank 2 is our Passanger side.

Bank 1 has cylinders 1,3,5,7 (from front to back)
Bank 2 has cylinders 2,4,6,8 (from front to back)

thanks. i was lookin and it said i need to take the intake manifold off. is this a big project or can i do it in my apt parkin lot?

Id leave yourself a full day to do it, just incase you run in to a hiccup. Be sure you have a ride to the hardware/parts store if you need to. Other than that, you will have to disconnect the throttle body and sensors. I believe the coil packs and fuel rails also have to come off. Probably not a bad idea to pick up a new gasket for the manifold.
