Default "power wire" idea

I have a power wire I purchased from another member here at df. The wire works by tricking the ecm into thinking that the air charge is ~20° cooler and therefore adds a little more fuel. But that shouldnt really work because leaning the fuel mixture nets more hp but its more dangerous because of detonation and combustion temps could melt a piston.

My question is if i wire the resistor between the two ait sensor wires would the ecm read 20° warmer and lean out the mixture accordingly to net a gain in hp? Does anybody have a tuner that can read live sensor data and some time to test if my theory?

not likely...adding resistance will lower the voltage (voltage drop)
to raise you would need alot more electronics

quick thinking probabily not accurate

get a 12v to 5v adapter(CEL PHONE CHARGER?)...and then add a adjustable resister to drop the 5v to .2v or something like that and add it to the return wire

this could fry all kinds of stuff and i am no electrical engineer

if i were to research this mod i would buy a new air temp sensor... supply it with 5v and read the return voltage

i would record the return voltage at stepped intervals between say 32F and 120F every 5F ...do this with the sensor in a plastic bag in a hot water bath with a high accuracy digital thermometer

also at the step points also measure the resistance across the sensor

now graph the data and see what the diff is for both plots for a 20F increase/decrease

this might get you somewhere in the ball park of your plan

Ive got a resistor box, just have to drive 6.5 hrs to get it. I only say leaning the mixture will gain power because oems tend to run "safely rich" at ~12.5 to 13 to prevent detonation.

Its a small box that you hook up in line with what ever sensor you want to mess with. Then its got dial you adjust.
