08 dodge Dakota lift kit...
Sk8ter boy if your 2wd like me....and your serious about this. ive got a 3 over uniball long travel kit i designed for my personal daily driver dakota that is bad ***! this is the kit im encouraging all the 2wd guys to look into given they have the dime. but you can also go with the kit im currently building. it will give lift but no increase travel because it retains the factory strut. it all depends on your budget...and my paychecks because unlike big companies. this is coming out of my pocket.
4wd.....i got some bad news...
the CV's dont match up with any of the aftermarket high angle joints.
you guys have a 33 spline outboard snub which is good! not the problem there. once it gets to the shaft...it turns into a 29 spline...no bueno. race shafts are 33 spline, and 930/934 shafts are 28 and 33. i cant switch the shaft out to a 28/33 spline because it will no longer yoke into the outboard joint....
the drive flange that yokes into the diff is i think a 23 spline (have it written down at work where i made all the measurements) and i cant just bolt up the custom cv because the dakota inner joints are tripod slipped and not bolt on like the GM...
heres the good news....
i can make a whole new custom cv assembly with 934 joints on both inner and outter and retain factory snubs on the end so they slide right into the knuckle and diff....but it aint gunna be cheap.
Im not too excited about dumping more of my personal paychecks into this on the hopes to at least break even. the lift kit im almost done with WILL fit both 2 and 4wd models but as far as cv's go for you guys....custom is the only way. they could be anywhere from 4-500 a pair :/

Not that they wouldn't take the time to change things up, and make it work..... I'd just like to see my options 1st...though limited, there's a lot going into getting it right the 1st time

And second, how much for the kit that you encourage (long travel) and the kit that you're working on, and yea I am 2wd.
Note: my balljoints are blown if not damn near blown, one of my a-arm bushings is blown, I need 1 new tierod, and I'm 90%sure my bearings are shot.. Of all this what will not be needed if I bought either of your kits?
Also do you have any pics of the long travel setup?
I was gonna go with them, but I'm skeptical now, because he's not a Dakota owner nor has he dealt with lifting one other than a body lift, so, I don't wanna have the parts fabbed, and have him suddenly learn that I'm gonna need a lot more parts to make it work, and endup paying the same to have it turned into a prerunner for some shotty *** ghetto rigged setup
I was gonna have him order the parts and get started this Monday, but I'm reading the posts, and considering all my options before I go out and get something started..

and i realize that alot of people are skeptical about sending money to people especially when they arent some big name insured, yada yada. but its the same no matter where you go. even to a big name custom shop. they dont have finished dakota products to show you guys. so you pay for something and they make it work with their experience in such fields. the difference between projekt dirt and these big names places. is, ive already ripped apart, measured, cycled, and test fitted just about everything in the front end. I dont have any finished products yet because im building this whole company off a part time job and me being in college still.....not exactly easy. but it is coming along. AND! im not even asking for a group commitment like these other yahoos are. whether 1 person buys it or 1000 people buy it....its getting made either way.
yea i would highly suggest a long travel kit for any 2wd over a generic lift system. out of all the things you listed being wrong with your truck. the only thing my kit wont replace is the bearings. but those are simple bolt in bearings you can get otc. the uppers dont deal with crap *** bushings and balljoints. were using race standard uniballs instead of balljoints and nylon lined heims to replace the bushings.
price range for the long travel, like i said. ill know for sure once i finish my copy. but if i had to shoot out a "range" id say anywhere from 3000 being low and 5000 being high. im going to try to keep it as low as possible for you guys. but keep in mind. a custom one off kit that theres only 1 company making....isnt exactly your cheap rancho lift.
I think what im going to do...is just release the upper control arms to you guys first...before the 4 inch lift is complete. because im cutting it real close with bills and the county just cut a bunch of mechanics hours so its getting hard. and even if your not lifted or just leveled or even lowered. our uniball arms are a HUGE step up from stock. no balljoint limits. fully adjustable so you can fine tune your camber and caster. and they are WAY beefier than factory crap and last longer.

no. the kit is not done yet because the county cut everyones hours so checks are slimmer. which means i cant buy as much materials per check.
if you guys want to see what my kits (lift and long travel) just go to sites like chaosfab.com or camburg or blitzkrieg. there products are what im doing, but for dakotas. but please stay away from superlift, fabtech, rancho, etc, etc. i dont condone those kind of lifts on the dirt
