4.7L V8 vs. 3.7L V6.
From a Dakota perspective, it makes a pretty dam ugly replacement for the Dakota, but as a stand alone vehicle, yes it does look pretty mean, I'll give it that, I really like the Duarango front end they have done a nice job. I'm just talking about as a Dakota replacement and calling that thing a Dakota....my Dakota is sexy...lol...
I have an 08 3.7L with the 3.92 rear end for towing. It is quick, and can tow a 7000lbs trailer if I need to. It's a Crew so I can take the kids and wife camping with it. (which is one of the main reasons for getting it) It's a great truck, I've driven it half way across Canada in the winter with no problems. I bought it with 38000 Km's on it and paid $19. It now has 50000 kms on it and runs like a top. I have converted it to synthetic oil so it's getting a bit better gas mileage. I love this truck!!
Throwing my two cents in, I make a couple of trips a year between southeast CT and southwest ohio through PA and West VA mountains about 780 miles each way, built in fuel computer showed 20.2
last trip in April this year. Past trips showed about the same, plus or minus .4.Thats a lot better than my 93 Dodge B100 van 318 CI about 12 to 13.
