level and tires
If the kit you have is just a metal spacer (around .75" - 1" thick of billet aluminum) then yes the whole strut needs to come out, the spring needs to be compressed, and the hat needs to be removed. If you have a kit that goes on top of the strut, it will have 3 new studs on it, and that should be able to be worked in without compressing the strut.
Here are the install instructions from Trailmaster for your reference, you shouldnt need any new parts to install the leveling kit. The top of the strut just has to come apart.

I love these tires for wheelin'. They are great in deep snow, shallow snow, and still do well on the ice...for what they are.

I just got the new BFG Rugged terrain 265 75R 16's on stock 06 QC SLT w 4.7. No rubbing on full turns. Good dirt handling and quiet on the highway. Had yoko's geos and got only 25,000 out of them. Too soft. BFG is 50,000 mi warranty. My next purchase is leveling kit.
BFGs have always had good life for me. I have 20k on this set of BFG A/Ts and I have gone through 4/32nds worth of tread ...... and I drive hard. Im expecting 60k out of these tires, and thats being conservative.
You can get them at wal-mart. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/tiresResultAction.do

The Duratrac has better siping and performs in snow a little better. Thats it. The rest of the tire is basically identical.
