SC 3685, torque management and a 2010
So I re-register on the Superchips forum, to order the transmission upgrade. Nope, no can do. The upgrade doesn't show up in the basket. I call Superchips to be told, "Oh, the option isn't showing up because it's not compatible with your PCM." I asked "So the trans tuning option isn't available for the 2010?" "Oh no, it's available for the 2010." Pregnant pause from SC... "So it's not compatible with MY 2010?" "Right. The program in your PCM won't work with the trans tuning upgrade." Pregnant pause... "If I have my PCM re-flashed to the latest and greatest version, will it work with the trans tuning option?" "Yes it will." "Thank you you've been extraordinarily helpful." (sarcasm). Customer service is a lost art. Imagine this conversation: "I don't see the trans tuning option for my 2010 V8 Dakota." I'm sorry you're having trouble sir. The early versions of the factory PCM flash aren't compatible with the trans tuning option. You'll need to go to your dealer and have the PCM re-flashed with the latest version. Please make sure you return your PCM to the stock tune, otherwise you may void your warranty. Tell your service writer your're having drivability problems, then it's covered on your warranty. Is there anything else I can help you with?"
Anyhow, it goes in next Friday for the re-flash. Jeesh, I must be getting old and cranky. Thank goodness I know the right questions to ask, cause obviously they aren't going to volunteer the information.

Look at the your pcm. There should be a sticker on it that has: p/n 560XXXXXXaa. The 2 letters on the end are for what program is installed in your pcm. AA would be the first program released by the dealer, AB would be second, AC third and so on. Call your dealer and ask what's the latest program available is. That way you wont get f*cked with a useless trip to the dealer.
