Is this much play in the end link normal?

I've got a clankety sound that I am trying to diagnose, I notice it most when going over repeated small imperfections in the road. It seems to be worse with dips instead of bumps.

 

Thats a worn link. Looks like you found your noise. The link shouldnt be seperating like that, the ball should just move around in the socket. It just hasnt completly broken yet. I went with the 2008+ dakota sway bar links when I replaced mine, they are much beefier than stock. You can also get Moogs from Rockauto, but I didnt feel like waiting that long to get them.

When I went to order, the shipping was delayed for that part because it was a non stock item. Rock auto is my preferred website for parts. I just get impatient sometimes

 

How odd I was looking up that same part here at work for my truck.

Moog shows the same part number for all 3rd gen daks. K750263 oreilly has them for ~$28.99 each.
