Just towed with out 2008 for the first time yesterday. 4.7 with 3.55s. Trailer was 3500#, no brakes on trailer.

Truck did ok. Found myself cursing the tranny a lot, doesn't want downshift a lot of the time. Also the engine doesn't have much low end torque, needs to see 4000RPM before the power comes on.

Hauled the load ok, feels like maybe it needs stiffer shocks in the rear. The trailer was a bit light on the tongue weight so that may have been part of the problem. Braked fine but I wouldn't go much over 3500# without trailer brakes.

Anyone else have problems with the tranny not downshifting?

its the crappy drive train, the over drive kicks in before u see ANY power. i was up in bishop not even towing anything and i had to stomp my foot through the floor jsut to make it to some of the higher up lakes. above 6000 ft. i hate it, it rly pisses me off how gutless it is without stomping it to the floor

Have it. It helped a bit but wasn't the magic solution that many claim it to be. I don't think the problem is the motor so much as the shift schedule and torque management.

The stock sized summer tires are going back on this weekend so we'll see how much that helps. I did use the Superchips to correct the tire size.

The Superchips comes with a modified shift schedule but it didn't do much.

As an add on for the Superchips you can purchase a program that allows you to write your own shift schedule. I have been unable to purchase it though as the downloader program that Superchips supplies will not work on either of my computers and I have not received a reply to get approved for posting on their forum board.

Have not been really happy with it overall.

Maybe it works better on the pre- 2008 trucks. I dunno......
