05 Dakota Security Issues??
Alright I’m new to this forum and I’m new to Dodge so looking for some thoughts hear. I just got a 05 Dakota V6 with 4X4 and at first I thought I was just doing something wrong, but now I’m pretty sure it is an issue with the security. The main kick is this, if I get out of the truck and shut the door and do not lock the doors at all, if you wait for the dome light to go out the red security light starts blinking fast (meaning its setting the alarm) then goes to a normal blink. I then open the door (remember doors were not locked) and the parking lights start flashing, but the horn does not sound and the key will not start the truck just the lights come up on the dash. If I pull the key out and hit the unlock button on the fob the blinking will stop and I can start the truck. Any thoughts or ideas?? I’ve seen a few post say this this kind of thing the battery my need replaced and I do recall when I test drove the truck that the dealer had to jump it, but I figured it was just from sitting and I haven’t had any problems starting the truck since that time. I’m all ears!!
