If you are mechanically inclined in the least, and can change a spare tire, and do an oil change, you can do your tie rod ends.

Just jack up the truck, anywhere, frame or arm, take off the tire, one bolt comes off on the tie rod end, give the control arm a few swift hits with the hammer to vibrate the tie rod free (or pickle fork it to death). Spray paint the tie rod itself as suggested, then loosen the retaining nut and unscrew that bad boy, put the new one on and lock it right where the mark is from the paint.

Done. No alignment needed.

not to be a jerk or anything but we all forgot an important step.you need to measure your new and old tie rods to make sure they are they same length. not all of them are. when i did mine last month the new ones were a quarter inch longer. so i had to adjust the nuts accordingly. you are going to atleast want to have you alignment checked. trust me its worth the extra cash. tires are expensive. its an easy job and you really should try to do it yourself. you will be surprised how easy this stuff really is.

when I had my struts installed, I paid extra for a lifetime alignment. That is paying or itself because I had at aligned again when I installed my leveling kit and I'll have it checked again when I replace the tie rod that I found that is bad. Cheeseburger is right...I just paid $800 for these tires, I'm not going to chance it.

Well I got the new tie rods installed tonight. Everything went well. I like how the new tie rod had a cotter pin to make sure the nut doesn't come off. The truck is already at the shop to be aligned and re-inspected tomorrow. Thanks for yalls help!
