I believe they started it in 2007. When you start the vehicle, you don't have to maintain the full start position of the key. It's a momentary thing, you just tap the key forward to start and release. It will crank until it starts or in the OP's case, times out. Both my Dakota and my Grand Cherokee have it.

Just has the power train warranty left and it does not include electrical, so the service guy at the dealership says.
I have the auto enginuity program on my laptop and hope to hook it up this week and look at the ignition and hopefully it will also read fuel pressure?

I did haul the Cummins into the shop this weekend and started to work on the wiring harness to get it it into the Dak.
I still have my 3 ton Dakota as a driver so the 08 can be off the road for a while.

Would crank but not fire up?

I thought I had it today.
Fired up the truck and let it warm up. Shut it off and it would not start. Replaced the ASD relay and it fired right up!
Shut it off again and it would not fire up.
Hooked up the laptop and retrieved a P0688 code.
I was hoping it would fire up and make it into the shop so I could do some more troubleshooting in the warmth.
Maybe it will start tomorrow.
