HIDextra
For those of you who have purchased HID kits from the vendor on the site, HID extra; A. Do you recommend this site? B. What kit are you running? I know the headlights run off of the CAN BUS system so which H13 kit should I get? I don't know if I could get any of the standard kits and order the capacitors with them or do we need to buy the $150.00 kit..I figured my Nightrunners deserve some 8000k's and would like to order on Friday (hopefully there is a Black Friday sale)

You need to ensure if you install HID bulbs, you install HID enclosures. Usually projector based design. Its law in many states, and provinces as they have recognized the fatigue they impose on other drivers.

I bought a set from a member here. Had them in for about a month. Just removed them last night. The way our lenses are it just (for me) scattered the light everywhere and really did not give me more light. I had installation issues too. First they would "strobe" when my lights were off, so I had to buy a relay kit. Then after installing that, they would flicker ever so slightly, like an incandescent bulb with a loose filament. Come to find out I need some other component. Became a total pain in the ****. Plus I did not like losing my high beams. Not being used to it, when oncoming drivers flashed me because I was blinding them, I would instinctively pull on the stalk and the lights would go completely out (since the fogs go out on high beam), it was only for a second or so, but driving along at 70 mph in complete darkness for only a few seconds can be deadly. Then I got to thinking, I would probably fail inspection because they check high and low beam operation. Sure, I could swap in my regular bulbs once a year, but I dont need the headache. I might try HID's in my fogs some day but for me the headlight HID experiment is over.

The component you needed was probably capacitors to limit the voltage being supplied, I don't think we are supposed to need relays for these trucks. Thats why I mentioned getting the CAN BUS kit since that is what our headlights are operated off of. I know my neighbor had trouble with a kit for his 06 Ram which also has H13's because he got a regular kit and didn't have the capacitors. But if the headlight housing isn't compatible with HID's maybe I'll just get a set for my fogs. I do have a fog lamp out and I use Sylvania Silverstars which are $20 each anyways
could have been, but I figured it was plug and play and after spending this and that and having almost $100 into it and I still was not satisfied, I just gave up.
