Default 2006 Dakota brake pedal height

Finished the brake shoe install on the rear drum brakes. I was wondering about the brake pedal height. On my Dodge Ram 1500 the pedal sits high even when stepped on with very little travel. On the Dakota the pedal is low. The truck (Dak) stops ok but man that is one low pedal. So if anyone has a 2006 Dak does your truck have a low pedal? How far from the floor when you step on it???

if the pedal is low you should adjust the rear shoes properly. if they aren't set up properly most of the pedal travel is used to take up the excessive clearance from the shoes to the drums, hence the low pedal. try that and that should do it.

what he said...did you adjust them after re-installing the drum? Usually they are self adjusting from driving in reverse, but I usually remove the little access hole cover and use a flat blade screwdriver to manually adjust the "automatic adjuster" so the shoes are at least touching the drums.
