Default Front end rattle

I've got an AWD 2007 Quad Cab and I'm getting a rattling noise coming out of my front end when going over patched or rough pavement, expansion joints, etc. It sounds like the coils on my struts are rattling around loosely. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

I had the same thing I checked the half shafts and they were loose so I took it to the dealer (still under powertrain warranty) they replaced the passenger side cv joint it went away for a while but its back I think the driver side is bad now. I know some people fix there rattles with sway bar end links or tie rod ends

Yes, could be any one of the crappy front end parts on these trucks. I would check your sway bar end links and tie rod ends.

how to fix: inspect your front end, find the rattle, replace the broken part, and the matching one on the other side, then hit a speed bump and listen for rattle...if you hear it again, rinse, lather, and repeat

Like jkeaton said, check the sway bar end links. Mine would pop out of the socket with just the force of my hands

Thanks for the responses fellas. I brought my truck to a mechanic friend of mine and we threw it up on his hoist. Ball joints, tie rods, sway bar end links, half shafts, bushings and all steering components were all fine. The only thing that we felt could be the source of the noise which is coming from both sides, was the dust shields on the struts. They do move around inside the spring. These front struts are terrible and I'll be replacing them in spring and I hope the rattle disappears along with these crappy struts.
