2006 Dakota Random Stalling
Since I've bought this Dakota, if I start er up in the morning and just try to drive off, the dakota stalls. If I let it warm up for a minute, it's fine. Ive done a tune up, cleaned the Fuel Injectors, changed the oil and filter, cant think of what the hell the problem is, the only thing i notice is that the battery does need to be changed... has anyone had this problem with their dakota stalling?
I swapped the stock air box and dropped in a Secret Weapon WPN-R intake. Even after thenew intake was put in, the truck still stalled. Dodge is out of ideas as too why it stalls on startup if i jsut get in and try to drive. They cant find anything wrong and neither can I. The only thing noticed when doing a load test is that the battery is operating less than 12V. I guess anything under 12 or 12.2 the battery needs replacing. I was thinking Optima or Exide.
Mine sometimes does it when I start in the morning, put in drive and "coast" down the hill. There is an all-way stop at the bottom of my hill, and rarely, when I apply the brakes, the torque converter does not release, and the engine stalls. Into Park, restart, and no more problems.
It happens on days that are about 0 deg C (32 deg F) and colder, but not on every day that is that cool. If it did happen every day, I'd do something about it, because we get a lot of those days here.
I almost forget that it can happen, then it rears up again.

OK cool. The more the weather gets warmer the better off I am it seems. I have my HID kit and headers coming this week, so the stalling is the least of my concerns anyhow. Still a bit nervous about installing the headers, We did headers on my EX Gf's F-150, and we snapped off the heads on 2 studs. But apparently fords have that problem alot... Thinking of buying a new propane torch just in case. Definitely soaking them in wd40 over night then spraying some freeze off.
