Super Eco Fuel Saver
If you have heard of this, or have even considered using it in your Dakota, or any Dodge truck, don't! I read all the literature and checked the website and it all sounded quite convincing. It claims to improve mileage and performance, in some cases up to 20% better mileage. It was on sale for the large bottle which treats 5 tanks of 60L. I used it as prescribed and didn't notice any improvement. One sniff of this stuff and you can tell it's an acetone derivative, with ethanol making up the bulk of the volume. I checked their forums after trying this stuff and among all the glowing letters from satisfied owners was this lone letter from a Hemi Ram owner claiming no improvement whatsoever. Their explanation was that they weren't sure why, but for some reason Chrysler's didn't respond to their product as most other engines did. They speculated that perhaps the computer didn't adapt to the "improved combustion" of this magic elixir! What a load of bunk. Anyway, don't waste your $30 or whatever it's going for these days. Btw, I wrote into their forum and they deleted my letter within minutes. Here is the company's response to a Ram owner:

2011 Dodge Ram 1500 4×4 Hemi. 121L/ 27imp gal/ 32 us gal fuel tank. Calgary, Canada. After my first service I tried EFS for 5 full tanks exactly as directed. The 60ml containers were exact for my tank. I was cautiously optimistic and carefully documented my MPG and used only ESSO/EXXON fuel . If anything my MPG got worse. Yes it was cooler but the December and early January weather here has been consistently above seasonal, above 0C. The EFS should have easily off set and more the cooler but not cold air temp if it was as effective as advertised. I am not heavy footed and Dodge Ram is not a B1 Bomber.

Hi James,
Thank you for writing in to us with the results on your Hemi and for doing such an accurate job on documenting your mileage and following through on using it for 5 full tanks. We encourage all users – whether they experience results or not – but ESPECIALLY those who do not experience the desired results (as far as fuel economy increases are concerned) so that we can add that vehicle to our database (which is growing every day) on which ECU’s (engine computers) that EFS cannot get to change. EFS WILL NOT make you get worse mileage or fuel economy, it simply doesn’t change the fuel in a way that this will happen (as you can see by our fuel analysis report – either gasoline or diesel). You either get better fuel economy or none at all, but NEVER worse. The analogy that we like to use when describing how EFS works to the everyday person on the street is that all EFS does to the fuel is “take a log and grind it up into wood chips or shavings so that more of the wood burns more completely with less heat and smoke”. Even after the “log” is ground up into shavings or wood chips it’s still “wood”. It is nothing more than “wood that has been ground up into smaller pieces”. There is no chemical change to the wood, just a physical change, the wood is now simply in smaller pieces and is therefore it can be compressed further in the combustion chamber before ignition, which will create more power and torque and more of the wood burns more completely. EFS does it’s job and restructures the fuel EVERY SINGLE TIME. It never does NOT work or do what it is designed to do. In some vehicles increases in power and fuel economy are hard to see or quantify, however, if you were to do an emissions test on your Hemi before and after using EFS you would see a dramatic decrease in toxic emissions. So, obviously, something must be going on in the fuel, right? EFS is increasing the combustion firing pressures in your engine – that’s a fact. An EFS enhanced fuel is a more powerful fuel. However, some ECU’s will simply not recognize this and therefore will not adjust the air/fuel ratios to where you see increased fuel economy or better mileage. Unfortunately, after hearing from several Hemi owners, we have concluded that EFS is unable to get the ECU in most Hemi’s to change (some Hemi owners have actually seen a gain). Remember that EFS wad designed originally for emissions reductions, not increased fuel economy. That is a “side effect” that many vehicles see. There are many other great beneits of using EFS outside of potential increases in fuel economy, including the aforementioned reduction in emissions, far less carbon buildup on components, longer engine life, cleaner oil, etc. We understand that most people are looking for better fuel economy and that is why they initially try EFS. In that regard, we’re sorry if EFS disappoints some users looking for mileage increases, but it’s NOT the product’s fault; some ECU’s just won’t adjust to the increased combustion firing pressures/energy that an EFS enhanced fuel provides. You will find that if you play around with EFS in different engines that some are going to get gains while others will stay the same. It all depends on the vehicle, the engine, and the engine computer. All of the above being said, we encourage you to look at the bigger picture – AT ALL THE THINGS THAT EFS DOES (i.e – emissions reductions, reduced engine heat, less carbon build up, less carbon and unburned fuel in oil, etc.). These benefits, both short term (emissions reductions) and long term (less engine wear, longer engine life), are EASILY worth a lousy 3.5 cents per litre (about 13 cents per gallon). Heck, fuel fluctuates by at least 3.5 cents a litre practically every day anyway. James, thank you for writing us.

Here is the deal as simple as this..
DO NOT USE ADDITIVES
They are a waste of money, its just a cleaner. It is designed for people who do not take care of their vehicles and they get all gunked up.
