I've noticed this odd noise when I hit a bump with the wheel turned or straight. I also feel the steering wheel move a bit.. I went out a bit ago and was messing about and decided to see if something was loose. I grabbed the steering shaft near the top of the rack where it attaches and I can move the rack back and forth quite a bit. Has any one had this issue before?

The whole rack moves? Sounds like it has come loose from the truck.....

 

Whatever the Intermediate shaft? goes into I can move.

 

I haven't messed with steering much. I know that u-joint thing fails occasionally.
