hey, im new here just bought my 2nd dakota (my first was a 02 reg cab 4.7 5 speed) and i seem to have a shimmy at speed and over bumps, anyone else have this problem? my truck was built in 11/04 so it has been sitting for a while. thanks!

 

I traded a 2000 Dakota QC on a 2005 Dakota QC. The 2000 was what I considered to be a bit squirrely over bumps on turns. You might call that a shimmy, you might not, but i didn't like it. I put the big Monroe gas shocks on it and the problem was solved. My 2005 behaves the same way and I will probably do the same thing. Did your 2002 Dakota feel more solid on bumps around turns than the new one? Reason I ask is that my 2 Dakotas felt identical.

 

well, its been almost 2 years since i drove my 02 (i traded it in due to tranny and clutch issues that dodge wouldnt fix)so its alittle difficult to remember. the rear bump bounce i kinda remembered,but the front shimmy over bumps i dont.

 

hey just got mine back from dealer with shimmy problem mine built 10/04 they replaced all the tires because they would not balance out .told because it sat for so long on one spot
