Default Fuel Filler Tube

Does anyone have the necessary knowledge of the fuel filler tube, the fuel tank and the Onboard Refueling Vapor Recovery system to tell me how to alter or remove the damned system so that I might quickly and easily fill the tank on my 2011 Dakota?
Oh, how I long for the good old days when the filler tube was 2" in diameter with no restrictions and a man could siphon out a gallon quickly with a six foot credit card.

OOOhhhh you have the same agony as I do, All i can say is that I have replaced the fuel tank, the cap, the filler tube and the Vapor-pump. It still fills like crap about 50% of the time.

The only thing i have not replaced is the vapor canister itself because it is so dang hard to get to. Which I might be cutting a hole in the rear seat floor to be able to do that.

I have been tempted to put a larger hose on it, but i really don't know if that would help at all.

If you find a solution, please let us know, there are some that share your pain. For what it is worth, I let Chrysler know my feeling on that "wonderful" design.

Give this a try, it came from a TSB from Dodge a while back.

When you stop to get fuel, let your truck idle for 90 seconds before turning it off. It might work.

I took compressed air blew out the filler neck. There is a little breather hole in there that likes to get clogged up with dirt. I blew it out and now I fill up no problem.

D: Mine fills perfect, you just cant fill it anymore (even a few cents) onces it auto-shuts off. Both my parents learned that, lol.
I can even use High-Speed pumps with no issues. Guess im lucky.

I have found that with diesel that foam's easily that stupid little 1" fill pipe is a real issue.
The vent tube is also a problem, you cant put fuel in without getting air out.
I replaced the fill inlet with a big 2" one and a 2" hose all the way to the tank but in the end the fitting in the tank is still 1".
The thing that made the biggest difference was replacing the 1/4" vent hose with a 5/8" one.
This involved cutting out the vent fitting and installing a new one.
I think once I get back from this trip I will have a monster aluminum tank built with a real 2" inlet and 5/8" vent.
