Default 4.7 ho interesting info

just drove a 4.7 ho dakota quad cab today, i noticed a few different things, 1 is that it does not have the front resonator, just the muffler and the rear resonator,2nd, it does not use EGR it is just plugged on the intake. idle is definatly not a s smooth as the regular 4.7 (due to the tighter lobe seperation) exhaust has i great tone, kind of like a 02 4.7 ram (before they started to use the rear resonators. power was definatly more pronounced over my 4.7 in my 05,pulls alot stronger in the high rpms, and it will actualy smoke the tires if you nail it. intake manifold is a different part number than the regular 05 4.7, i will get the number tommorow, to see if it is available, since dodge is not listing anything but the one intake....

Thanks for the update. I was thinking of taking one for a drive too. I'd like to know if there was anything else different about the HO.

drove a 06 QC 4x4 auto w/4.7HO today. Could see a small difference in top end (pulls a little stronger) but other than that it's really not any more impressive than my bone stock 02 4.7L in my Dak QC 4x4 auto. Sad that mine also has 145,000 miles and I can still say that. Exhause note really wasn't that pronounced over my stock exhaust either.

I'm still goning to buy an 06 w/the 4.7HO, guess I was expecting a little bit more noticable difference between the two.

now I know why I barely noticed a difference.

my truck, 02QC, 4.7L, auto 235HP, 295 lb/ft
06QC, 4.7L HO, auto 260HP, 310 lb/ft

I forgot to check at what RPM's those numbers are hit, but I imagine they are pretty close to each other. The 25HP difference was barely felt in the upper RPM's, but the 15 lb/ft of torque just really wasn't that noticable. From what I remember I think the stock 01 4.7L may have had 240HP.

Just info for everyone
