Is it a pain to put in? I've got a locking gas cap and this seems to be better... not to mention it would match my black truck quite nicely...

not too bad, took like 10-15 minutes to put in, a little grease on the fingers to keep the nuts in your hand will make it easier as well

What's this Winter you speak of? j/k

Could you not get the key in the lock or just not turn it? I've heard (I wouldn't know... don't live in a cold region) if the key goes in and doesn't turn you can apply heat to the key and that might help.

Norma,

I just bought this since for some reason my locking gas cap failed emissions. When I got the directions it says on the right side how to put the spacer, metal washer, locking washer and nut. It doesn't mention where to put the metal piece with the bumpers to stop the door from pushing in. Did you put it behind the truck's sheet metal? (so gas door trim, sheet metal, metal piece with bumpers, spacer, washer, lock washer, nut?) I'm hoping to put it in tomorrow.

i couldn't fit all that crap on the bolts in that tight little space, i don't think i used the locking washer or the spacer. I do love the way it looks on our trucks

lol. It ended up being fuel door trim, metal piece with bumper, spacer, truck sheet metal, washer, lock washer, nut for me.

Those who want to install it... you need to make sure the upper bumper stop clears the lock or you're going to have a hellva time locking/unlocking as it can get in the way.

Also the company makes Chrome doors for those interested:
Non-locking: GD-302C
Locking: GD-302CK

And for those who wanted it non-locking in black:
BBS-2331

Amazon has them all and should fit up to what I would guess an 08 Dakota since it fits up to an 08 RAM.
