still stalling...
What coil is preferred as a replacement? They all appear to be very close in price.
I've started having this problem with my truck, but have been thinking that it might have has something to do with the superchips reprogramming - the first time it "quit" was shortly after I lifted it and used one of the superchips profiles. The second time was yesterday - luckily, each time was after turning into a parking lot, and each time it restarted after several attempts and then ran as though nothing had happened.

When you're on the forum page that lists the threads, you'll see "New Thread" close to the top, on the left side. Click on this and it will take you to the start of the thread creation page. Give your new thread a title and then type your comments, questions, etc., and when you're done, submit your post & you will have started your first thread. Good luck.

Thank you dodgecares! The spark plugs were the problem after all. My brother instlled Bosch super greens and they caused the problem. He ordered plugs from dodge and received Bosch super blacks, they had an extra AA on the serial number. I experienced every symptom on that report from dodge and this cleared it all up. Thanks alot!
Your welcome. Glad it worked for you.
sooo im back. Replaced the plugs and the truck ran great.... for 2 days. It was running perfect for 2 days on a longish trip of around 150 miles. I backed out of a parking space, flipped it in drive and boom shuts off. Here we go again. Turns right back on and runs great. A few miles later i get a strong shutter. Then again a bigger one. Sitting in traffic it stalled 5 times in 10 minutes. On the highway the check engine light comes on and blinks while beeping. I continue to get shuttering the rest of the two hour drive home. Of course it couldnt be the only thing that goes wrong, passenger side window wont go down and the AC stops working. The foot AC ducts start to form frost at the openings so i check the engine out and an AC line is covered in ice. SOOOOO...... Im not sure if maybe a coil is bad now? i guess thats the next step in the procedure. Other than the shuttering the truck is running very smooth and much better than before. Im getting very frustrated and getting ready to trade the truck in. helpppp again
I had a huge stalling problem with my 1995 Dodge Ram Van. After a year of trying everything and hiring mechanics I found a solution.
1. Remove air cleaner and all sensors attached to the intake system.
2. Get a tooth brush, rags and a little clean transmission fluid.
3. Gently scrub and wipe away all areas and surfaces to remove old gasoline varnish.
4. Wipe everything clean and reassemble.
I also got an air compressor and blew out dust from every place I would see under the hood and inside the engine compartment. (Note: I attend Burning Man and get a lot of nasty desert dust and dry lakebed salt sticking to the engine.)
Turn on ignition to accessory position and carefully unhook battery cable to reset computer. Leave off for a few minutes and reattach. (WARNING: Risk of electric shock! Don't short it out either.)
This worked for me. Will it work for you? I don't know. Attempt at your own risk. Good luck.

I'm going with what someone mentioned earlier about the coil and the related TSB describing exactly your symptoms. You also mentioned that for a day or two after changing the plugs again the problems went away. I think the conincidence is that the two things messed with, coils and plugs, are directly related. If there is an arcing or grounding on one of the coils it could have been temporarily remedied when you removed and reinstalled it.
Option 2 is a dirty idle control or bad TPS. I remember I had problems with the TPS on my older Dakotas but I believe the new ones have the integrated unit in the drive by wire system. Could still be faulty and maybe part of the estimate for an $800+ repair from your dealer.
I would personally swap out the coil as described in the TSB and move it around until the problem goes away. Are there any misfire codes on any certain cylinder?
