No I have not but I work at a tire shop, and if you can use a wrench its easy on my truck. Band sensers are easy to.

On my truck I do not believe they need to be in any particular wheel either. If so they can be reset with the proper tool.

I installed a set into my winter rims. Super easy, just need a 9/16s deep socket. No need for a tool on our trucks. Its just a very basic system. It doesn't give you individual readings, just a light if one or more tires are low. It doesn't care which tire is low or which sensor is where, it just looks for 4 good signals. Put the sensors in and go for a drive and its all good.

If a tire shop tires to charge you for programming them they are ripping you off. Although many shops will charge a fee to transfer them over to different rims.

I have had some where they are seized into the rim and have broken off when I tried to remove them. Not much you can do about that. Used ones are fairly easy to find for cheap on kijji/ebay. I paid $100 for a set of 4 brand new ones that came off a 1/2ton Ram when the owner put on some fancy aftermarket rims.

Not all rims take TPMS. You did research that, right?
