Parking/running light problems
For anyone who can use the information, I have an update to MY version of this problem (re: my post above - 2007 Dakota V8 Quad Cab). I finally got around to looking into why my driver's side park/tail lights wouldn't work. I had feared that the timing control module (or whatever it's called) might be faulty. I had discounted the possibility of a blown fuse because I erroneously believed both left and right would be on one fuse.
A quick look in the fuse box revealed that the left and right park/tail lights are on separate 10A fuses, and that the left side fuse had been replaced by a 15A fuse (now also dead). So obviously the previous owner had had trouble with that fuse blowing. I replaced it with the specified 10A fuse and so far so good - the lights work. We'll see how long that lasts. I realize that I have probably not solved the problem - there's probably something causing an occasional overload that's blowing the fuse.
Does anybody have any suggestions about where to look for a short?
