Default 2006 Dakota Dirt Bike Hauler...

Hey Guys,I found a clean used 2006 , 83,000 mile SLT club cab,3.7 auto for $8000 ...and it needs a few things like tires, shocks and brakes so lots of money...yikes! I think the struts are the most fun right? Thanks to this very informative forum and your great tips... I fell in love with the good looking body style these 3rd gens have... so thats what counts right? anyway shes going to haul my trail bikes up to the local mountain trails on the weekend and my old 2002 chevy s-10 was not as classy as this beauty... Metallic Khaki Gold...floats down the road like a Cadillac...Cheers...Malcolm in the So -Cal Jungle... Any other dirt bikers out there? Hmmm...my photos are too big to post here so maybe when I figure out how to shrink them I will...

Looks good, congrats and welcome. If you want to post up nice big pics, you need to use photobucket. It's free and how most of us (if not all of us) post up our pictures.

Clean truck, prior owner of mine was huge into off road biking. Make sure to install a hardened steel bar at top of your truck bed so the bikes don't deform the bed from hauling.

Default Hauling dirt bikes

Welcome. I occasionally haul my XR400R in my 05 Dakota. I have found the front of the bed to be exceptionally weak. Tying the bike down with the front wheel against the front of the bed will surely bend it. Consider using some kind of wheel holder bolted to the floor or reinforcing the front of the bed.
Happy trails!

I thought that the bent head board was just a sign of haveing fun.LOL I have a KTM200. Of course it could also be a sign of loading the bike a little to fast. My dad broke out a back glass once in his RAM.
