Just a horrible situation all around with '06
2006 Dakota Quad Cab SLT 4x4 with the 3.7 and Auto. Drove off lot new. Some suspension problems but no major mechanical/electrical.
While out of state (Ohio...I live in NY), the truck developed a misfire and blinking CEL. It was raining, and I had just started truck up...light was on within 5-10 seconds. Of course, it was 5 p.m. on Saturday so nobody was open.
Independent shop took the job and I had my wife come get me. It's been 3 weeks and they have been unable to fix it. #6 misfire code, they traced back to PCM (everything checked out...plugs, wires, coils...etc), and ordered a refurbed one...no dice. Truck started but O2 sensor comes on, but that checked out fine. So, they believe it is some sort of electrical problem.
Truck is now at a Dodge dealer and they said they don't think it is the PCM, as the PCM is not communicating at several points...so they think wiring. Dealer said "this could get expensive."
The whole situation is excaberated by the fact it is out of state. I JUST paid it off last month, too.

I had this same issue with my 06 v8. I replaced coils, spark plugs, reset the computer and nothing. I have a superchips tuner and had a tune installed so I reverted back to stock and made sure everything was cleared which took care of the issue. I was throwing a hail mary, I can't even begin to explain the ways in which I didn't want to get into testing wiring and all that crap. This all happened about 1500 miles ago. Mine was cyl 6 misfire, cyl 6 insufficient ionization.
