Default My brush guard saved the day

Had a little fender bender over the weekend. i was coming around the turn when I hit a piece of debris on the road with my front driver side wheel. That brief second that my front wheel was off the ground was all it took for my vehicle to start going straight instead of continuing around the turn. The truck then proceeded to slam into the concrete barrier wall going 65 mph, which fortunately the brush guard took the initial impact. I managed to quickly correct my steering and pull myself off of the wall, but it was too late and the damage was done. But I swear, if it was not for my brush guard, the damage would've been far more worse. I will try to add some pictures and keep you all posted on her recovery as she is going under surgery as we speak.

Been there, done that, with a 2001 Ram 1500. Only difference is mine was because of ice, not debris. I feel your pain. Insurance?

Holly crap that wheel is #$%&%$ up! But at 65mph that damage isnt too bad. never thought a brush guard would protect it that well. How does the frame were the brush guard attaches look?

Thanks guys. Yeah, the most important thing is nobody got hurt. Already spoke with claims adjuster. Good news is, my policy states pretty much verbatim that she will get fixed to pre accident condition. Also, there is an ammendum that states they will cover up to $1,000 on any aftermarket parts that were damaged. So, she should get fixed as good as new. He did state that he was going to have to check the cost of repair vs the value of the truck and see which is less. I'm probably low balling the value of my truck, but I would guess that the damage is far less than $10,000. So we will see. Here is a pic of her not even 3 days before the accident.

Haven't looked too closely at the brush guard. Other than a bad scrape on the left wrap around corner, it looks totally fine and not bent out of shape.

New mirror, new rear quarter panel, new taillight, new wheel, maybe new brushguard, refinish front bumper cover, paint new parts. I bet this is going to run in the several thousand dollar range. Don't think it is anywhere near totaled, but it aint going to be cheap. Glad your OK.

Thanks, yeah, brush guard is actually fine as far as I'm concerned. But we have to include the front drivers suspension. The lower control arm looked like a pretzel. No idea about the rest of it. If they come back to me and say its totaled I would be shocked, but hey cut me a check for $12K and gimme my truck back as is and I will be sure to fix her up myself and make a nice down payment on a 2013 GMC Sierra

Oh, I forgot about any "unseen" damage to suspencion, etc. Yeah that would be sweet if they did that!
