Default heated mirrors

i have an 05 dakota slt with factory power mirrors, but I want to add heated mirrors. i was wondering if anyone here has done this or if the truck already has wiring ran for it. i tried doing a search but could not really find a definitive answer.

There is something here, I remember reading it. As far as I recall, the wiring is there, and if you have a heated backlite (rear defrost), you have the button to activate it. You may have to get the stealership to program the computer to tell it you have heated mirrors. There was some sort of fix for those without heated rear backlite too. Keep searching! I don't have time right now.

I have added the heated mirrors and the rear defrost button. Then I added the fuse and relay. The mirrors still dont heat up. Either side of the defrost fuse gets power. So i took it to the dealership and the tech spent and hour on it and still couldnt get it to work. He said that there is nothing to turn on it the computer. If you figure this out please let me know.

As far as I know, The MIRROR Defrost is NOT controlled by the Rear Window Defrost Button. It is controlled by changing the HVAC to Windows, and/or Windows/feet.
Im pretty sure this was asked in another thread awhile ago, and someone tested it I believe.

I would do it, but I hate the powered/heated mirrors look (Plus I dont have power mirrors anyways)

The heated mirrors are indeed turned on & off with the rear window defrost button, that's how I operate mine.

Heated Mirrors — If Equipped
Heated mirrors are automatically activated when you
depress the rear window defroster switch located on the
instrument panel. The light will illuminate to indicate
that the heating elements are ON. Turning Off the rear
window defroster or the ignition will deactivate the
heated mirrors.

dakotaff can you take a picture of your fuse box under the hood and post it? I want to see if anything is different then mine. If you have all the same relays.

Ok, so back to the OP question. Is the wiring already there in the door? Is it just plug and play if you already have the rear defroster?
