Default Transmission Scrap Price

Hey y'all, so I finally got my transmission replaced and didn't get charged core for the new one. I was wondering what y'all thought I could get at the scrap yard for this hunk of metal. I just don't want it taking up space in the garage.

I don't think you'll make much, I've taken my scrap to various yards and didn't get much for it, but if you want to check this out, look for the specialty metal scrap yards, they will give you the best prices for the transmission as a whole or better prices if you separate the various metals (mostly the steel and aluminum and get rid of the plastics and fluids). Another option is to find some transmission re-build places & see what they'd give you for the unit as a whole - this might be your best bet if that's all the scrap you have, a few cents a pound won't give you a big fist-full of cash. If you just want to get rid of it, there are lots of metal scrap dealers around that would be happy to come by and take the unit away for free - you may even be able to negotiate a box of beer for yourself.

Heck, you got a spare transmission? Keep it and build the crap out of it. Shift kit and all that.

First gear and 5th gear are both shredded. It needs a new solenoid pack. If I had the money I'd keep it and overhaul it but unfortunately money is tight. :/

+1. I'd also put out feelers through friends, see if they know anyone who may want it for a rebuild.
