Default No Vent Heat

I get no heat or air through the vents. Control unit is sending power on each setting and you can hear the motor operating the flap(s) when switching from floor to defrost and back to floor but not for vent. Where do I go from here? I am a former auto tech so I can do pretty much everything but my Chilton book is basic so it's hard to diagnose without any instructions. Help!

Does your blower motor work?
are you getting air/heat from any setting?

yes, blower works on all speeds and air flows through floor and defrost; will also work properly on mix of floor/defrost but just not the vents. Not sure how many flaps are utilized to control airflow; where they are located, assuming they are all electrically operated so need to figure out how to diagnose once I get to the flap, etc.

I just viewed the wiring diagram in Chiltons and it shows 4 motors are used to control airflow. Appears power should be transferred from the control unit to the "floor to panel" mode motor via the green/yellow wire. Power enters unit via gray/pink wire so I believe when I place the control unit on "face" the green/yellow wire that controls the floor to panel mode motor should be hot. If not then the control unit is bad; if hot the motor or connections are bad, right?

If no power out of the control unit, I should be able to hook a jumper from the hot feed wire to the wire controlling the mode motor and the flap should allow airflow to the dash vents.

My fingers were getting numb last night as I tried checking power so I will need to do this once again; maybe Saturday during the day?
