Default Long time! No see!!

hey guys haven't posted in long time it feels like. been crazy busy!

any ways! i have a question about leveling!! i know i know! NOT AGAIN!! how ever my question has a twist.

so im looking into finally leveling the ole girl. looking into struts and all that good stuff. when it got me thinking. i wouldnt mind replacing the springs up front because i plan on replacing my leaf springs in the back cuz there worn out. so here's my question's........

for the dakota they make a monroe quick strut assembly..here is an example so you know what im talking about.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dakota-Raide...194243&vxp=mtr
how ever i would prefer rancho. which is what i have in now.
im using
rock auto as reference. for the ram 1500 (i used an 06 ram 1500 4.7l as reference. they have a rancho quick strut assembly. i checked the monroe's part numbers for both vehicle's and they are different. my question is according to the picture which i know doesnt mean squat. they look the same. but will they fit/work in the dakota. my thinking is possibly getting the rancho for the ram. possibly it being the same mounting style but a lil taller. which would give me a level without adding spacer's ive checked a couple different web sites but couldnt find any more info on the specs of them.

ok that takes care of the front.

for the rear leaf springs. i saw awhile ago somebody said they put either 1500 or 2500 leaf springs in there dak. but now can not find that thread. maybe im no searching correctly for it. would like to find out more info on that.

if your still reading this i appreciate it. feels like i just wrote a book.
and always thanks in advanced! you all rock!!

I've put a leveling kit and struts on both an '06 Ram and my truck. From what I remember the suspension setup is VERY similar and the upper strut mounts should be identical. They both have the same pain in the @ss lower strut mount bolt and bushing. What I do remember is that my buddy's Monroe quickstrut looked like a monster truck strut compared to my Monroe strut. It was definitely taller and I think much beefier as well (wider). It would probably take a lot of messing around with prybars to make it clear and that is IF it would even bolt up. Combing the Ram strut assembly with a leveling kit I think would be near impossible. And if you are a 4x4 then it would put an angle greater than 2" on your axles which you don't want. Springs really don't sag until they get pretty damn old man. If you want Rancho then just buy a pair of their struts, new strut mounts because I know mine were poor looking and I had to use a whiz wheel to cut into the top nut to remove them and last but not least any eBay over the strut leveling kit. I must say, my truck looks completely different with the extra 2" up front and it looks mean. My Cooper AT3's definitely top it off too!

hey welcome back. umm for 2500 springs i know sumone bought the truck with them already install im pretty sure most shops will do it. i know it can be done.

And as for 1500 springs im pretty sure correct me if im wrong we already have the same springs/part of the frame. i say this because some of my friends of 1500s and the frames look idenical and about the same amount of space untill u get towards the front then it changes. spring wise same amount of srpings and look the same.

hope this helps u

my plan was to use the ram quick strut to illiminate the need for a spacer. ive already replaced my struts back when i first baught the truck.

i thought the daks were the same as 1500's but wasnt 100% positive. ill most likely go with the 2500's then.

alright, well I'm just giving my .02 and I don't think it would fit or bolt up properly unfortunately.

Id suggest a 2 inch (metal) spacer... i forget the name i got but they dont fit on top they go inbetween the coil and the rubber piece. find a shop that is willing to install usually around 100 when i asked around. because its a confusing and interesting way to do so... cant really do it with a wall mount even tho it does help. after install noticed a big difference.. only thing i wish i got the 2.5 leveling kit or the 3 inch... might have hurt the truck at first but afterwords the truck has settle and has a slight rake but cv shafts are stright.... i think its the tires.... lol
