Weird "whup, whup, whup" from tires when driving?!
Early in the morning, only one coffee. My story and I'm sticking by it!
Guys, thanks for your opinions; I can relate to what you're all saying--I used to feel the same way when one of my racing rivals would pay something crazy to replace the top end on their bikes, and I could do it for parts alone. Hey, that's what education's for. Unfortunately, I have it for small engines, but not for autos.
I KNOW that I got "taken" on the parts and labor, but in the end, I signed the authorization, so I can't really blame the shop. Suckers are born every minute, and I had it just about tattooed on my forehead, I guess--but that wheel jumping around on my tie rod WAS dangerous, and I didn't even have the first idea of how to start repairing it before the drive to Atlanta this week.
The alignment price is for a 5-year, transferable alignment deal. Being that alignment can run around $80, and I'll be getting new tires in about a year, I figured it'll pay for itself in five years, for sure. Hell, I"ll get it aligned every six months just them to make it up to me for what they charged, lol!
jkeaton, thanks for your kind and generous offer. Winston-Salem's a hour and a half from me; I'd probably try to find a closer mechanic, unless I had something of predictable decay that could wait a few days, like a muffler. This shop was Tire Kingdom in Pinevile, NC, on Pineville-Matthews road.
