Engine stumbles please help?
2005 dakota v6 4x4 automatic stumbles and pops at 19km hr, no other speed while accelerating only. Engine light doesn't read anything wrong and doesn't matter if engine is hot or cold. Anyone please help?
2005 dakota purchased in beginning jan2013 at 149k and present 168k. 5k monthly and ran smooth till now. When purchased changed plugs(Bosch platinum +4) oil+filter every 5k and PVC value, K&N air filter. Fluids checked regular, oil, rad, tranny, and antifreeze.Engine light off and says nothing wrong on code reader! Checked motor, under, rear seal and nothing leaking. I have owned 99 dakota v6 4x4 in past and no problem like this. I have knowledge to change parts and hope it's as simple as a fuel filter? Don't have to many shops in my area and don't wanna be charged for a rear end, tranny or fly wheel if its something that's not even the problem! My partner has a (ford car,ERR) and(Bosch platinum +4) since jan13 haven't skipped a beat. Speedometer is steady parked, pick up and decelerating. Hoping like heck tranny gears aren't screwed! Please help anyone?
Try the camshaft position sensor. Mine went bad twice. First time, no code. Second time, got a code. Not expensive, easy to replace. Located on side of right head near front. You can feel it with your hand from the top and see it looking up from underneath. One electric connection and one bolt to remove. 5 min job
You may want to swap out those Bosch +4s. They are platinum, if memory serves, and the whole +4 design along with platinum doesn't typically run well in our Chrysler engines.
Champion or NGK copper plugs (the cheap ones) typically run best, because copper is the best conductor. Bosch cheapo coppers or Autolites will probably be OK as well, but best results tend to come from Champion or NGKs.
