I have a 2008 Dodge Dakota SLT 4WD 4.7L V8 Flex Fuel. When I shift into reverse, it sounds like a metal grinding sound. It only happens shifting to reverse and no other gear. No slipping when changing to other gears either. Does anyone have any ideas about what might be happening. Ive had the truck since last october and has started making the noise whithin the past few days so its not normal for my vehicle.

My 2007 4.7 auto will make that grinding noise fairly often (not every time but often enough). Usually accompanied by a clunk both audibly and physically. It's "normal" for the 07 to do this and I'll assume it's normal for an 08 as well. Mine's been doing it ever since I bought it new in 07. Never had any issues with anything powertrain related.
