"Rattle" me this Batman...Grrr.
Ok, Experts I need some seasoned advice or tip...
So, I had this rattle that led me to discover my rusted out radiator support. Seemed like culprit, but no...so I spent ALL day today under her, could not find anything loose or bumping into anything...I'm stumped (and PO'ed) to say the least.
My question is...if I was a mechanic what tricks or tips would I do to try and diagnose where it is coming from?
Keep in mind... it only happens when I hit a bump, rough piece of road, or pot hole... all upper and lower control arms and tie rod ends have been replaced with Moog's, new rack and pinion, Monroe struts and shocks front and rear, exhaust, sway bar links, all done in the past 6 months, put a lot of miles on her (but nothing rough, just highway).

Have you checked the Strut Mounts, One of mine went about 2 weeks ago, Made a metal on metal sound when hitting bumps, but not all the time.
But when I pushed the front up and down you could hear it easily. I noticed the top of the Strut sticking out of the top of the Strut tower, The metal piece of the mount came out of the Rubber mount

You hit it on the head my brother!!!
After watching a few of the "Ericthecarguy" videos I was suspicious. After I read your comment I checked and sure enough, just like yours...on the driver side...I easily saw the threaded head on the top of the strut sticking way up high. I'm hoping all you had to replace was the rubber mount that failed, and that it was a rather simple and inexpensive fix.

It cost me at the shop under $200 installed. I just had them get the mount to.
The mount is a Metal Rubber combination. Its a Metal Ring inside a Rubber ring inside a Metal mount kinda.

Ok, so I'm guessing 1-1.5 hours of labor and the price of the part. I'm pretty sure I found the part I need. >>> Moog K160049 ... sad thing is, nobody has it in stock so I had to order it and pick it up tomorrow at Advance Auto. Still gonna take everything apart tonight just to make it easier tomorrow to put it in (plus to make sure that the strut mount is exactly the thing I need)
Thanks again Reject, you were exactly right, and now that she is all fixed she is riding like a new truck. I'm planning on doing the passenger side before it fails too. I posted a couple YouTube videos on the job I did.
My first video uploads and I plan to do more, but I am still new and learning how to do them, so please be gentle on the criticism, lol. I'm editing parts 2 and 3 right now, but here is part 1
