Default Disappointed in 05 V6

My brother in law calls and tells me this has happened to him

B7aat9x.jpg

he asks for me to come out and pull him out.. sure no problem.. i mean i got a 4x4 truck. I always just used it for normal travel to work and back, a 05 v6 quad cab

I got thru to him no problem.. what i was really disappointed about was when i went to pull him out... pedal to the floor and my truck wasn't even moving an inch. i was in dirt and my tires wouldn't even spin.. don't know if that's normal for a v6

Im no off roader, is his SUV considered to be stuck pretty good? i mean he couldn't go anywhere.. we ended up breaking the only strap we had and it was getting late so just left it there for the night and gonna go back tomorrow.

Also, for anyone who does offroading.. i know this probably sounds newbish but fact is i dont know anything about it... my truck is just stock and i really dont ever plan on off roading with it again i just got the 4x4 for the Wisconsin winters, but on semi bumping dirt trails, my bro in law thinks its best to just keep flooring the pedal and i disagreed and thought its best to take it a little slower so you have less of a chance of breaking anything and so you would see when a big *** puddle like this is coming up.. what are your thoughts?

But i do have to admit, there i something cool about being on the less traveled upon trails,, kind of got me thinking of buying a junker 4x4 and maybe looking at joining a off road club to learn some more about it and having people to do it with lol... i was having a blast getting out there but at the same time praying nothing breaks on my truck

Ive driven my 2wd off-road, and gotten it stuck twice.
Ive never had any problems with my V6 and pulling/towing issues.

He doesnt look that stuck either, His problems looks liek his tires haha

But when I was stuck in mud worse then he is, I could move but all I was doing was sliding sideways into a rut alot deeper so I gave up. and I had mud PACKED right to the cross-members/Running boards.

Yeah, with those tires that he has (and if you have some that are similar in tread), you don't want to be going on any trails. All terrain treaded tires at least.

If you are going through mud, you want to be at 100% throttle until you are out. The idea is to clean the mud that gets packed into the voids on every rotation so that you have fresh tread to grab the mud on the next rotation.

As far as your issues with power for the 3.7L, I will say this: it is a pig, dog, pile, puss, all in one. However, I have 136K on mine with no issues yet....

Four mods that you need to seriously look at are:

1: Intake (around 8hp from K&N)

2: Exhaust (around 8-10hp on the top end from seat of your pants dyno)

3: Electric radiator fan (no clue)

4: Hypertech programmer (24hp and 24lb/ft torque with midgrade tune)

ours trucks have a good amount of potential, if his jeep is still out there maybe find another buddy with a truck too and have him help asap. I don't feel like the truck is the problem, my friend has an 80hp sidekick that has no troubles pulling, give or take how stuck.

-i'd try pulling him out at an angle, the other way or dry out the mud.

worst i've ever been is my buddy's ranger getting stuck in a ditch, we had to have a dodge dually pull him out, go dodge!

these 3.7's have plenty of power and plenty of low end torq. You shouldn't have had that problem. were you in 4hi? If you were trying to get him out of that **** you probably would have had better luck in 4lo, but in order for that to engage you would have had to put the truck in neutral then switch to 4lo wait for it to engage then put the truck back into drive. I towed a mid sized UPS truck out of the ditch, in 6 inches of snow with my 3.7...
