Fuel Consumption V8 4.7 Crew Cab
2009 Dodge Dakota v8 SXT crew cab
Just wondering what is your average fuel consumption,
I get about 670 km highway on a full tank of gas that is 84 L
about 500 + in the city...
Sorry if that had been asked already but I just have to reassure myself that
my truck is not so bad on gas.lol
I am also getting call from the dealer they are trying to take my baby for a trade in for a Ram 1500 6 speed 5.7L
How would the fuel consumption compare between the 2 ? can I get a ram with the same 4.7 L magnum engine?? or only the damn 5.7 hemi
thanks,
Drew.

Fuel consumption between the 5.7L HEMI and the 4.7L are almost identical on the highway. You'll achieve perhaps even better mileage if you keep your foot out of the HEMI, due to MDS and more power. The HEMI will lose you maybe 0-2 MPG in town, depending on how you drive.
According to my math, your metric system (damn Canadians ;-) just kidding) translation into U.S. = approximately 18.75 miles per gallon (MPG). Thats very good for 75% city mileage. What speeds do you drive? Is that a 4x2 or a 4x4?
I average about 17-18 in the summer, and drive anywhere from 50/50 to 75/25 city/highway. In the winter I average 16-17 if I don't have to use 4x4. In metric, thats about 7.25-7.5 km/liter for summer, and 6.8-7.25 km/liter for winter.
These Dakotas are only about 500-ish lbs less than a Ram 1500. They won't get much better mileage than one. They are still trucks, and despite what the ads now-a-days make you think, are designed for gas mileage second after power.

I was driving continuously with a few short breaks but that also included some
of the mountain drive..., and yes I was driving between 95 - 105 km/h,
I believe I could've done 700 km on that tank but I wasn't that familiar with the fuel reserve after it kicks the low fuel light, I decided to fill up at 670 km distance.
I average about 500 - 550 km on a tank 70% highway and 30% city.
Does any one know how many liters of gas do I have left when the low fuel light comes on ?
Forgot to mention it is the 4x4 v8 magnum I also got a canopy , maybe that adds to better efficiency due to decreased wind drag on the tailgate....
cheers from Deadmonton !!

Some big factors to consider with MPG's is after market changes. In my case when I first got my Dak and she was stock (according to the built in MPG calc) I was getting about 22/15 highway/city...but after adding a leveling kit, 18" wheels with BFG's, a brush guard, and SCT, I am now getting about 21/14, granted that might change a little if I set the SCT to economy instead of performance, but for the add on's I've done I'm not going to complain. It's a truck with a V-8...I didn't buy it to try and be green, just do what I can to keep some green in my wallet if possible.
