rear differential on 2005 4x4

can I put a differential from a 2000 Durango in my 2005 Dakota. they are both 3.55 gears. I just want to swap the gears not the whole rear end.

I think it should work as long as they both came out of the same size axle, I.e. 9.25 inch to 9.25 inch.
