Remote Start
Not sure if this ever got turned into another discussion but it should especially this time of year. I just purchased the same setup off EBAY for 89.99 and installed it in about 30 minutes. SIMPLE install, no wires to cut and does exactly as described it remote starts the truck using your existing FOB.

I ordered one, but ended up having to purchase the Flash Link aswel to program it correctly. I installed mine in a 2010 Caravan (work van) as my truck doesnt have remote locks. Im thinking of ordering another and a key-fob kit for it.
Very easy to do, For the van I had to change the T-Harness, as it comes wired for 12+, you have to change 1 wire for 10-11. But all the instruction are easy to fallow.

Here is the link for the seller I purchased from. It was the best price around and actually got delivered earlier than scheduled.

Ok, so i found one that does work on the 06 and older trucks.
I was investigating the fortin Evo, but according to Fortin's website and Caralarmdepot.com, they say that it wont work on an 06 and older. what they did recommend is that we get a bypass (fortin or other brand) and a CodeAlarm remote start system:

I looked into this and realized that cutting wires is a bit beyond my capabilities. So i looked into some local car alarm installers, and i found one who installs this system. It costed me 325.00. I had it done the day before thanksgiving. I got my truck back and they had installed a wire wrong which kept the radio on while everything is off. So I took it back and they got it fixed.
The system works good. On my system i have to hit the lock-unlock-lock buttons in that sequence and it will start the truck and stop it. IT will also keep the truck running after you put it in park by activating that sequence while the key is in the ignition, just as long as you dont hit the break pedal.
My biggest issue is that my remotes dont work 100%. So this system is at the mercy of the quality of your remotes. I think that i need new batteries. but the system when the truck does recieve the signals from the remotes, it does start properly.
I was skeptical of remote starts cause my wife has a 06 pontiac Grand Prix which has issues starting even when using the key in the ignition.
The individual componets are cheaper to buy and install your self, but as mentioned before, i have no place poking around in the wiring of my truck especially when it has something to do with making it run, so i had a company do it and they have stood behind their work.
I do recommend this system.
I hope this makes since and is helpfull.

Fortin has the 05+ listed on the site as a compatible vehicle, Its just the new module the "Evo-One" that has the remote start feature. I bet the Evo-All still does, As the remote is part of its Listed features, But one the chart that shows the different models it has N/A under them for hte Dakota, but has them for the Evo-One.
I wouldnt get another system, I like the fact that the Fortin's use the Factory fobs, and its 3x Lock to start/stop, and there was NO splicing, plug and play with only 1 T Harness (when i set it up in my work 2010 Caravan)
