Looking for bed divider, whats different between 2005 - 2007 and 2008 - 2011 beds?
I have a need for a bed divider for my truck. Right now I have a hard shell tunnel cover and was thinking of switching to a fold-able tunnel cover that will allow full access to the bed without removal as I've been having an increased need for hauling things and my topper is such a pain.
I was leaning towards the Undercover Flex cover and it has a rail that sits inside the bed. I also looked at the Extang Solid Fold which doesn't require a rail and sits on top of the bed but I liked the Undercover product better.
Anyways, I've seen a few Nissan trucks with the sliding cargo divider system that is on their util-track (Video here). I would love to have something like that but I can't seem to find a universal system.
I did stumble upon Loading Zone Utility Gate which seems to be pretty cool but it requires access to the inside edege of the bed rails which eliminates me being able to use it with my current fiberglass cover as well as the Undercover cover. In theory it should still work with the Extang but I don't know for sure.
I did spot the MOPAR Sliding Bed Divider which says it requires the MOPAR Box Utility Rails which are sold for the 2008 - 2011 truck model years. Did the beds change width or length that would prevent me from using those? Yeah I know the price is steep for the rails plus the cargo divider but it's the only thing I see made for a Dakota.
Anyone else have an adjustable cargo divider they're using with or without a tunnel cover?

Seems like your pretty set on keeping a cover and not interfering with the rails, I would go with something simple like the Hitchmate Cargo Bar from Ebay.
Even better yet go with a roll and lock here is the link. (my link button to include as html wouldn't work.)

pyrofossil, the Roll-N-Lock Cargo Mate is exactly what I had in mind, perfect. I wasn't keen on the idea of a cargo bar because I have things of varying size and some of them may easily go under it defeating the purpose. I know I could always get some sort of crate, basket or something to hold those but... I think the Roll-N-Lock is what I want.
The down side is it's an accessory to the Roll-N-Lock tunnel cover which is about $1,200. I wasn't really in the market for a rolling cover but I believe that the rails that come with the cargo manager *could* be screwed on to either the bed wall OR the rails of another tunnel cover.
I did find this interesting read about someone suggesting using premade aluminum 80-20 which doesn't sound too bad either and looks very similar to the Nissan setup:

They even have black anodized and while it wouldn't be as nifty as the Roll-N-Lock I may still be able to fabricate the rails and even a gate if needed. Just looking at the examples of linear motion on this page shows that it could be pretty simply to make:

Here's what I send folks asking this question. If there's a chance that you'd consider the Peragon cover, please check us out.
Get some nice totes that will fit. Then put the following cargo bar next to them so they stay put.

I have considered the SwingCase to free up some of the storage under my rear seat that is currently occupied by some jumper cables/misc tools. The problem is, as far as expenses it's really a "nice to have" item but I'd have to cut up my current plastic liner or switch over to a spray in liner.
I've classified the bed divider as "must have" because I'm sick of things sliding around on the various things we do.
I play soccer three nights a week, I've got a lot of crap and I haul team mates around. I need the storage at the tail gate end of the bed and I don't want it to be too tacky with bins as not everyone bags will fit in a tote, etc.
Now that the water is warmer we'll be doing more scuba diving and I need something that will be adjustable so that I can easily move it to stop the tanks from sliding forward/back. Side to side is no problem because we pile gear in there. Any give weekend it may be just me or me plus three.
Then there is the kayak we take our frequently as well as trips to the beach to take the jet ski out.
In all, we're on the go all the time and the needs for the bed change almost daily.
