Hey Guys..

I am in the process of building up my Dakota, I want to spice it up with some mods. Overall I am pleased at what I have but want to improve it a bit and add a different twist to it.

So far I have the current Mods done on it:

1. 2" Supreme Suspension level kit (front and back)
2. 265/75T16 Destination MT's on stock wheels
3. Midland CB Radio with WX
4. GPS - Garmin
5. Dash Cam

The next set of mods are a mix of drive train / MTC (Maintenance)

1. Drop in bed liner
2. Front Mounted Winch behind the bumper - Warn Zeon 8000
3. KYB Front and Rear Shocks
4. Rear Limited Slip Dif (I have 3.92 gears)

I am working on the front winch mod with a fab shop as we speak, drop in bed liner is going to come from Mopar, just have to do some homework on the KYB's, anyone know the part # for the off road HD set?

Also, what (in terms of price) should it set me back for a LSD in the rear? I think I have a 8.25 axle, but I am not sure.

What do you guys think?

 

I think you should go for a locker over the lsd, but I don't know what is available for the 8.25. A selectable would be the my choice, but expensive. An auto can be a liability in the snow if you are inexperienced. I say this cause I would like one and you seem off road oriented. I am, however pretty happy with my LSD it is very streetable and fine in the snow. It does fairly well getting power to the low- traction wheel, but I would like more. There is no selectable locker available for my 9.25. I think I have seen them for yours but they are 700-1000$. Auto lockers are well under 500 for some. I think the after market LSDs put down better power than mine. Be ware of anything that puts a lot of power to both wheels; they like to put you sideways and then some when the going is slick.

 

If you have the V8, you have the 9.25" axle.

 

Get a spray in liner, not drop in. Drop in liner wrecked my bed because of rust.

 

my bed is already rusting a bit over the left wheel well~! I don't know how long I am going to keep my Dakota, but I might keep it for a while...I was never a fan of the spray in, but I can see their benefits !

I have the 3.7, all I want is a easy way to get a bit extra traction out back, that is why I like the LDS over lockers, I don't want to go that way, seeing how this is a light roader, not a heavy off roader! (that is what my 1986 Power Ram is for!)

Anyone have any experiences with the KYB Shocks and Struts?
