Default rear drums on a 2009 dodge Dakota 4x4

I am the second owner of a 2009 dodge Dakota 4x4. I was wondering if anyone knew how to take the rear drums off so I can change the shoes. Unfortunately I have accidently pushed the locking clip up and my rear brakes are locked. I have been told that it is a two screwdriver system to remove the drums but I have no idea how to fit the two screwdrivers in the same slot that seems to be made for one. Can anyone help?????

You're gonna need smaller screwdrivers..

Looking at the backing plate you should see a oval/rectangular rubber plug. Remove it and you should be able to see the star wheel adjuster. Further behind that is the ratchet arm. It runs horizontally and rests on the teeth of the star wheel adjuster.

I usually use a very small scribe or flat screwdriver to push the ratchet arm forward and off the star wheel adjuster so I can use another flat screwdriver to actually turn the star wheel. That should take enough tension off the shoes to get the drum off.

Try YouTube most rear brake systems are similar so you can get an idea of what to do.

there could also be corrosion around the hub a couple whacks with a hammer (between the lug nuts) usually frees it up
