No I have not replaced the lower control arm bushings yet, as I was hoping it would be one caused by one of the things that was visually bad. As it turns out, a part of the noise seems to be gone and was due to a really bad sway bar end link, visually it looked fine, but it had tonnes of play in it that could only be found by removing the link. And the new bushings have helped tighten up the ride closer to new.

Well I guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet and replace the control arm, might as well do both while I'm under there and getting a wheel alignment?? Or not necessary?

It's a 2007 4.7L quad cab SLT 4x4 with tow package and only 135xxx km on it.

I had one done not too long ago. Why do you think that may be a culprit?

If you don't know for sure that you need lower control arm bushings or other front suspension parts, I'd suggest taking it to an alignment shop where they can do a full pre-alignment inspection. Just changing parts can be very expensive & you can create yourself problems if you don't have the appropriate tools or experience.

I had the annoying clunk in left front. I bought 2 mevotech sway bar end links with blue urethane bushings and the noise is now gone. 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 4wd.
DIY: Hit nuts with PB Blaster or liquid wrench a day or two before.
Jack car up, remove both wheels. Remove top bolt of link be sure to stop link from spinning by using a wrench below top bushings. repeat on other side. lift sway bar up about 1 to 2 inches. Loosen lower nut using same procedure. slide link out. Insert new links. Torque to correct specs, mine were 75 bottom nut, 27 top nut. Torque wheels. Took me about 1.5 hours with cleanup.
