Yeah....it's one or the other:
a drop-in filter OR an intake

But get the intake....it cost more, but it'll be a noticeable difference in power (9hp to the wheels is a nice gain!)

A drop-in filter doesn't do much or anything at all. It's the factory air box/plumbing that's restrictive, not the filter itself. And it won't be a noticeable difference at all.

So if you're gonna spend $50 on a drop-in filter...DON'T. Save the money and put the $50 towards a $200-250 intake

just my 2 cents

I put a 77 series induction in mine, and am pleased with it so far. Gas mileage is up, little more power. I think inductions are worth the money, but that's just me.

If anyone else hasn't noticed.....

K&N just introduced an AirCharger intake for the 2005 Dakotas....gives a 9hp increase in the V-8 & a 8.5hp increase in the V-6

Almost the same as the 77 Series intake, but it's got a black plastic intake tube and cost about $20 less

For the V-8: http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=63-1546

For the V-6: http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=63-1547
bummer - not ca legal...

I keep seeing these ones on ebay from an ebay store called chrome-intakes. They are only like $60.00 with shipping and they have a k&n filter on them. They seem to work as a lot of people buy them and there arent many negative feedbacks on the guys selling them. I think I might try one myself, sounds a whole lot better than $250 to me.

Also what kind of spark plugs would you guys reccomend?

i purchased my 63 series off of e-bay for 212.00 complete with shipping and i never looked back. easy to install, and being the composite material i was able to relocate my iat sensor. stay away from the chrome intakes, they look nice but create more heat.
